Letter from President Gale Measel
Dear fellow Costa Linda Members,
I’m writing to tell you that the Costa Linda Board of Directors elected Board member Jo-Ann Campbell to the position of Board Secretary at its October meeting. Jo-Ann succeeds William”Bud” Walker, who last week stepped down from that position and from his seat on the board. After making a personal decision to sell his weeks at the resort, Bud is no longer an owner and, therefore, not eligible to serve on the Board.
In addition to being elected by the Board to serve as Secretary, Jo-Ann was also appointed to replace Bud on the Members Relations Committee. One of the four officers of the Board, the Secretary is responsible for taking and producing official board meeting minutes and for signing important association documents, including all interval deeds. The officers of the Board are elected by and serve at the pleasure of the Board, which also appoints the Members Relations Chair and Committee members.
Bud’s current term of office is set to expire in June 2021. Our Association articles call for vacancies that occur on the Board in the middle of a term to be filled at the next Annual General Meetings of Members. Therefore, in June 2020, there will be three seats on the Board to fill and on the ballot — those two currently held by Jo-Ann Campbell and Board Treasurer Tito de Cuba and the vacant seat created by Bud’s resignation. All three seats have a three-year term.
A director since 2009, Bud has been a valuable member of the Board, whose business and budget expertise has served Costa Linda Beach Resort and its members very well. While he will be missed by his colleagues, Bud will still be a part of the larger Costa Linda family, since his adult children continue to own weeks at the resort. I’m sure you all join the Board in thanking him for his service and wishing him and is family all the best.
Gale E. Measel, Jr.
